Are you staring toward a new and daunting change, a needed unknown? Something that seems far beyond your capacity to handle it? Our Lord just carried me through one as we quickly downsized from a three-story house to a one-floor apartment, and at times it felt like crossing the Jordan River! Physically, emotionally, cognitively, spiritually.
Perhaps our Lord’s words to Joshua will carry us both into the daunting change that lies before us, as they all point us to Jesus, our greater “Joshua” in this New Covenant time of redemption!
O Word of God Incarnate,
O Wisdom from on high,
O Truth unchanged, unchanging,
O light of our dark sky!
(“O Word of God Incarnate,” How, W.W., 1867)
When a daunting change lies before us, first carried by God’s promised hope of eternal inheritance for those in Christ
I am giving…I have given you..this land…as an inheritance…rest…just as I promised (Josh. 1:2, 3, 6, 13 CSB).
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day (Heb. 4:8 BSB)…

The entirety of Your word is truth, and all Your righteous judgments endure forever (Ps. 119:160 BSB).
Carried by His continual presence with us until that glorious day!
As I was with Moses, so will I be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you (Josh. 1:5 BSB).
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go (Josh. 1:9 BSB).
We praise thee for the radiance
that from the hallowed page,
a lantern to our footsteps
shines on from age to age.

When a daunting change lies before us, continually carried by Your Word’s instructions, Your gifts to guide us
The church from her dear Master
received the gift divine,
and still that light she lifteth
o’er all the earth to shine.
Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven (Mt. 7:21 BSB).

It is the golden casket,
where gems of truth are stored;
it is the heav’n-drawn picture
of Christ, the living Word.
When a daunting change lies before us, letting Your Word shape our thoughts, emotions, motivations, and actions, giving us strength and courage in this hard world’s sufferings
It floateth like a banner
before God’s host unfurled;
it shineth like a beacon
above the darkling world.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Heb. 4:12 BSB).
This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth;
meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in all you do (Josh. 1:8 BSB).
“If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them” (Jn. 13:17 BSB).

All by Your grace, Your power, Your strength, Your Spirit, through Your Word’s helping us continue to “fight the good fight” in the battle, Lord Jesus!
And the dragon was enraged at the woman and went to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus (Rev. 12:17 BSB).
It is the chart and compass
that o’er life’s surging sea…
so that your faith would not rest on men’s wisdom, but on GOD’S POWER (1 Cor. 2:5 BSB, emphasis added).
‘mid mists and rocks and quicksands,
still guides, O Christ, to thee.
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession before many witnesses (1 Tim. 6:12 BSB)!
You therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus (2 Tim. 2:1 BSB)!

Why? Your “best soldiers” must cross over…
“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!” (Jn. 16:33 BSB)
ALL your mighty men of valor must be armed for battle to cross over ahead of your brothers
and help THEM (Josh. 1:14 BSB, emphasis added)…
O make thy church, dear Savior,
a lamp of purest gold,
to bear before the nations
thy true light, as of old.
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever — the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him.
But you do know Him, for He abides with you
and will be in you” (Jn. 14:16 BSB)…

O teach thy wand’ring pilgrims
by this their path to trace,
till, clouds and darkness ended,
they see thee face to face.
in all these things WE are more than conquerors through Him who loved US (Rom. 8:37 BSB, emphasis added)!
Singing God’s Word when a daunting change lies before us!
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful (Col. 3:15 BSB).

We’ve all been given different gifts to help one another “fight the good fight!” In my case, He’s carried me through many daunting changes by singing truths of His Word! So much of it is internalized as a result! Recently, I’ve started setting Scripture to music because singing the sword of the Spirit is my desperate need.
I’m praying it all helps my suffering sisters in Christ as we all “let” the peace of Christ rule and the word of Christ richly dwell within us as we sing with gratitude to Him!
So, this week’s playlist gift sings His Word’s truth and pray-sings for Him to guide us through every daunting change that lies before us.
If this would be a gift of His grace, His power, His strength to help carry you through, sign up here and weekly gifts of Scripture-saturated songs will come to your email!
