Jesus Christ,

In this week when Americans remember those who gave their lives for their country, I wonder if those who are Yours might have sung this powerful song of Your gospel truth.

As they faced death each moment of war, did they sing the blessings of our Father’s unchanging favor toward them? Did You bring them courage and peace amid each scary moment by singing of their assurance of eternal life with You?

Help every member of Your beloved bride and me to sing to You today, re-finding gospel hope once again, with no fear of what comes after our earthly lives.

Anchored to my sure and steadfast Savior, my safe refuge and hope

I’m already anchored to Your perfect righteousness. I “have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain” where You already went “as a forerunner” for me, my great and forever High Priest.1 Only on You “rests my salvation and my glory.” I shall not be shaken…because You are my only safe refuge.2

Psalm 62:6

Anchored, I’m safe in our Father’s presence, now and forever!

Sometimes this suffering is so strong, it seems like Your lovely face is veiled. Help me to see. Help me to remember and rest, quieted. The veil separating me from our Father’s presence is now torn!

And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split (Mt. 27:51 ESV).

You stand in my place, through Your own blood shed for me, “thus securing an eternal redemption!”3 Death once reigned in my life, born into Adam’s sin, like everyone since Genesis 3.4 Even my “righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.”5

But now? I’ve received “the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness!”6 You “put away” my sin by Your sacrificing Yourself.7

Risen and reigning Lord Jesus, You are interceding for me, leading to eternal life with You!

For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf (Heb. 9:24 ESV).

Because, in our Father’s favor toward me, “grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life.”8

Help me rest in the blessing of Your unchanging favor and love as I suffer…with sure hope in the marriage supper of the Lamb!

Jesus, my only righteousness, what else can I say in this suffering except thank You? Help me to rest in the blessing of Your unchanging favor, anchored safe, as I wait to see You. As You help me “pursue righteousness,”9 only in humbled adoration of my Bridegroom.

“Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb…These are the true words of God.”

In Your name, my spotless Lamb of God, my righteousness, amen.

A playlist gift to sing the blessings of God’s unchanging favor, anchored sure, in Christ alone

Sister in Christ, I need to sing the gospel truth into my suffering constantly. Daily. It’s so easy to think our Father’s favor and blessing toward us is waning when suffering becomes chronic and a permanent part of our earthly lives. It’s easy to be afraid we haven’t been righteous enough to enter our Father’s presence. On the flip side, it’s also easy to think our good works have been good enough, and our pride quickly swells into sinful self-righteousness. Praise to our Lord for anchoring our salvation sure, in Christ’s righteousness alone, now made our own!

I’m singing the gospel to myself this week to remember, to thank Him…and to hope in what is to come. If my professionally curated worship music playlist gift would bless you in your own suffering, sign up here, and it will come to your email with my prayers and love.
