Love Divine, all loves excelling,1
As I pray for my suffering sisters in Christ, Your Romans 8 love songs fill my heart.
Your love is far stronger than our tribulation. It continues steadfast when our own weakens, in our constant distress, with every ache in this fallen world of sin.

Jesus, nothing and no one can separate us from Your love.

O the power of love divine!
Who its heights and depths can tell –
Tell Jehovah’s grand design,
To redeem our souls from hell? 2
Love Divine, You’ve made us more than conquerors as we suffer
Cling every Christian sufferer here. You tell us that IN, WITHIN every kind of suffering, we are more than conquerors. Because You have conquered our sin! It’s all through You, who loved us!

Mystery of redemption this:
All my sins on Christ were laid…

My offence was reckoned his;
He the great atonement made!
We are now Your blessed ones, “whose lawless deeds are forgiven and whose sins are covered!” (Rom. 4:7 ESV)
For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, GOD DID by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin (Rom. 8:2-3 BSB, emphasis added)!
Love Divine, thank You for what You’ve done for us
Love Divine, as we both suffer, we’re amazed that we are Yours and that You would do this for us!
Fully I am justified;
Free from sin, and more than free;
Guiltless, since for me he died;
Righteous, since he lived for me.
For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified (Rom. 8:29-30 BSB)!
PAST TENSE!!
Loved with everlasting love,
led by grace that love to know;
gracious Spirit from above,
Thou dost taught me it is so!
O this full and precious peace!
O this transport all divine!
In a love which cannot cease,
I am His and He is mine.3
Love Divine, You live within us, as we both suffer
By Your grace, our changed hearts intimately know that “God is love.” We believe Your love for us, in Christ.
Yet, this suffering makes it so easy to doubt Your love. So, remind us daily, Lord. Help us memorize the truths of Romans 8, all Your love songs!
Taste the goodness of the Lord:
welcomed home to His embrace,
all His love, as blood outpoured,
seals the pardon of His grace.
Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us (Rom. 8:34 ESV).
Can I doubt His love for me,
when I trace that love’s design?
By the cross of Calvary
I am His and He is mine.
Lord, help us remain in Your love as we suffer, because You abide in us (1 Jn. 4:16).

His forever, only his!
Who the Lord and me shall part?
Ah, with what a rest of bliss
Christ can fill the loving heart!
Heav’n and earth may fade and flee,
firstborn light in gloom decline;
But while God and I shall be,
I am His and He is mine.

Jesus, now to thee I bow;
Let thy praise my tongue employ.
Saved unto the utmost now,
Who can speak my heartfelt joy?

My Jesus, I love Thee.
Thank You for Your words of Romans 8, written for Your suffering beloved in Christ. Please encourage each one with this magnificent chapter. Help us to memorize it for the hardest days! In Your name of Love Divine, all loves excelling, amen.

A playlist gift for us to memorize Romans 8, love songs for the hardest days of our suffering
This week’s playlist gift is one I made several years ago, knowing I needed to memorize Romans 8, as spiritual warfare. Wielding the sword of the Spirit in intense suffering has been God’s “means of grace” when 10/10 pain overwhelms. When anxiety and depression take hold, often co-morbid with chronic pain. When lying in a hospital bed, unable to read or think. When reeling from one exhausted crisis after another.
If you are a Christian woman walking through suffering, I’d love to email you my weekly playlist gifts and pray alongside you, asking Him for help. Sign up below if this would His Romans 8 love songs would help you endure, for we are indeed “more than conquerors” in Christ alone!
