In this world broken by sin, are you feeling particularly shattered and weak? Suffering and sin are a born-into-this-world given (Genesis 3)…but these days? They seem a

weighty,

A prayer for today

Oh Lord, we need Your strength in our weakness. We ponder again today. At the cross, You displayed Your strength. You are strong enough to completely break into hearts, to redeem hearts that are crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20). You are strong enough to have atoned for sin, pouring Your just and righteous wrath on Jesus (Rom 3:25). Jesus Christ was strong enough, in strong love for us, to endure the weight of all manner and magnitude of sin. He understands weary…way beyond any I might feel.

We are utterly dependent on You for strength to endure today and, as weary warriors in this life, we come to You as the One who destroyed the power of the enemy at the cross and have replaced our sin with Your righteousness (2 Cor. 5:21). We can trust Your strength. We praise You for Your strength today. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.

He promises strength, day by day

Let’s journey into personal worship for a moment, seeking today’s gift of His never-ending, grace-filled strength. Let’s personally embrace His utterly victorious New Covenant gospel tightly as we also look back to His promises.

As your days, so shall your strength be (Deut. 33:25b). This promise, tucked inside Moses’ blessing, connects days with strength.

  • You are the source of my strength (Ps. 68:35).
  • You strengthen my heart (Ps. 10:7; 73:26).
  • Lord, You ARE my strength (Ps. 28:7; 46:1).

Strength: Day by Day and with Each Passing Moment

Lord, I am clinging to Your daily strength through this “promise interruption” song, written by a woman after watching her father drown tragically.

Day by day and with each passing moment,

Strength I find to meet my trials here;

Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,

I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.

You Promise Your Presence

In Deuteronomy 33, You remind us of who You always are, fostering faith and strength in lingering hard days. You are:

  • The God who is majestic (v. 26b),
  • our help (v. 26a),
  • eternal (v. 27a),
  • our dwelling place and refuge (v. 27a)
  • holding us with everlasting arms (v. 27b).

Every day the Lord himself is near me with a special mercy for each hour;

All my cares he fain would bear, and cheer me,

He whose name is Counselor and Pow’r.

The protection of his child and treasure

Is a charge that on himself he laid;

“As your days, your strength shall be in measure,”

This the pledge to me he made.

Today: Appointed for a Purpose

Lord, these are indeed specially appointed days. You have appointed today for me.

Today has a special purpose. You promise to make everything beautiful in its time (Eccl. 3:11a). I trust You.

He whose heart is kind beyond all measure

gives unto each day what He deems best—

lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,

mingling toil with peace and rest.

Day by Day and with Each Passing Moment (Sandell, C., 1865)

Wait for the Lord and Be Strong in the Lord

Lord, I will wait for You today. Help me to continually renew trust that today has special purpose in Your hands. You are the One who loved me, so much so that you rescued me from the domain of darkness and transferred me into the kingdom of your beloved son (Col. 1:13). You give me Your strength to endure, from that knowing.

Help me then in every tribulation

So to trust your promises, O Lord,

That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation offered me within your holy Word.

Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,

E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,

one by one, the days, the moments fleeting,

till I reach the promised land.
